mein letztes Posting ist noch gar nicht so lange her, … und schon haben die Ereignisse der letzten Tage alles auf den Kopf gestellt.

Mal ganz abgesehen von der allgemeinen Angst, Unsicherheit und dem unbehaglichen Gefühl rund um das Corona Virus, die berufliche Situation ist für Musiker wie mich schlicht und ergreifend ein Desaster. Absolut kein Einkommen mehr … aber da war doch was, oder? Ja genau, der Staat hat doch Soforthilfe Programme versprochen, für die Wirtschaft, die Banken … und sogar auch für kleine Künstler und Kulturschaffende wie mich. Dachte ich zumindest. Da war die Rede von “unbürokratisch helfen”, erstmal die nächsten Wochen überbrücken, toll. Ich habe sogar noch gedacht, das ist ja toll, dass der Staat diesmal tatsächlich auch an uns Kulturschaffende denkt, die nicht im Rampenlich stehen. Sorry, aber Kollegen wie Grönemeyer, Toten Hosen, Westernhagen usw. brauchen jetzt in dieser Situation nicht die Hilfe, wie wir anderen.

Gut, habe ich gedacht … und meinen Antrag auf Soforthilfe an den Kulturdezernenten in Düsseldorf geschickt. Heute kam dann eine Email, ohne Anrede, ohne irgendeine persönliche Zeile … mit der lapidaren Mitteilung: Hilfe gibt es nur, wenn man konkret nachweisen kann (durch beizufügende Dokumente), dass einem durch konkrete Absagen Dritter ein Verdienstausfall entsteht, z.B. Absage eines Veranstalters. Was ist mit Musiklehrern wie mir, die freiberuflich ohne jegliche Unterstützung durch irgendwelche Institutionen tagtäglich von Schüler zu Schüler fahren, um diese zuhause zu unterrichten? Die Antwort des Kulturdezernenten: Wir können nichts für Sie tun, wenden Sie sich doch an das Arbeitsamt-Jobcenter wegen möglichen Anspruchs auf Grundhilfe. So sieht also die Realität aus. Von wegen Hilfe, unbürokratisch … so wie ich werden demnächst auch andere feststellen müssen, mit der vielgepriesenen Solidarität, der Hilfe und Unterstützng für diejenigen Kulturschaffenden, die sowieso seit Jahren prekär leben und trotzdem ihren Idealismus, den Glauben an die wahren Werte von Kunst, Kultur und Musik weitergeben an junge Menschen, damit ist nix. Sieh zu wie Du klar kommst. Dein wohlwollender Staat hat mal wieder schön daher geredet, ein sozial abgesicherter Beamter auf dem Posten eines Kulturdezernenten gibt Dir den wohlwollenden Rat, Dich an die nächste Bürokratieabteilung zu wenden, der Du dann wahrscheinlich auch erst wieder wochenlang klarmachen musst, wie sehr Du die Hilfe brauchst, bevor sie Dir dann sagen, tja, tut uns Leid, aber Sie haben keinen Anspruch … Ich hatte mal geglaubt, man würde Wertschätzung erfahren von diesem Staat, ich hatte mal geglaubt, es gäbe so etwas wie Gerechtigkeit.

Ich bin mal sehr gespannt, wie das alles weitergeht … mein Vertrauen in die Versprechen aus der Politik ist endgültig dahin. Und mit jeder Talkshow, in der die Herren Scholz, Altmeier usw. erzählen, wie schnell und toll sie doch in dieser Krise reagiert hätten, und niemand solle durch dieses Virus seine Existenz verlieren, je mehr ich davon sehe und höre, umso mehr muss ich ko….en. Das Land der Dichter und Denker ist ein Land von Bürokraten, Lügnern, Egoisten, Feiglingen und Dummköpfen geworden. Wenn ich könnte, ich würde wieder gehen …und nicht mehr zurückkommen.

My last posting was not so long ago … and the events of the past few days have turned everything upside down.

Not to mention the general fear, uncertainty and uncomfortable feeling about the Corona Virus, the current situation is simply a disaster for musicians like me. Absolutely no income … but there was something, right? Yes, exactly, the state has promised emergency aid programs, for the economy, the banks … and even for small artists and cultural workers like me. At least that’s what I thought. There was talk of “helping unbureaucratically”, bridging the next few weeks, great. I even thought: Great, this time the state is actually thinking of us cultural workers who are not in the limelight. Sorry, but colleagues like Grönemeyer, Toten Hosen, Westernhagen etc. don’t need the help like we do in this situation.

Well, so I thought … and i sent my application for emergency aid to the cultural department in Düsseldorf. Today i received an email, without any salutation, without any personal line … with the succinct message: There is only help if you can provide concrete evidence (by means of documents to be attached) that You suffer concrete loss of earnings due to cancellation by a third party like an organizer. But what about music teachers like me who go from student to student on a freelance basis without any support from any institution to teach at home? The response from the head of culture: There is nothing we can do for you, please contact the employment office job center for a claim to basic help.
So that’s the reality. That is their understanding of help, unbureaucratic …
Like me, others will also find out soon what it´s all about with the much-touted solidarity, the help and support for those creators of culture who have already been living precariously for years anyway and yet pass on their idealism, their belief in the true values of art and culture to young people.

I´m curious how things will go on. The head of the cultural department gave me benevolent advice to contact the next bureaucracy department (job centre) where i then probably have to make clear for weeks how much i need the help, before they´ll tell me, well we’re sorry, but you have no claim …

I once believed that this state would help if You need help, I once believed that there was something like justice …but my confidence in the political promises is finally gone. And with every tv show in which politicians tell how quickly and great they have reacted to this crisis, the more I see and hear them, the more I have to puke. This land of poets and thinkers has become a land of bureaucrats, liars, egoists, cowards and fools. If I could, I would leave … and never come back again.
